About HKCAGAArtWalk 2006 is organised by the Hong Kong Commercial Art Galleries Association (HKCAGA). The HKCAGA represents the interests of Hong Kong’s independent commercial art galleries and communicates the concerns of the art gallery community through advocacy and advice to government, museums, tourism authorities, and a variety of related businesses in art and cultural matters. With the formation of the HKCAGA, Hong Kong’s commercial art galleries will have a ‘voice’ and be involved in decisions about the future development of the city’s cultural makeup. ArtWalk is a showcase event for an important sector of Hong Kong's arts community - forty-one galleries are involved in ArtWalk and situated in a natural arts district: a strip that encompasses Wan Chai, Central, Sheung Wan and SOHO, and, newly located galleries in larger spaces in Aberdeen. Most of the galleries are independent businesses expressing a highly individual vision about the art they exhibit. It is in these spaces that you can view the latest contemporary photography from Hong Kong, China and abroad, Vietnamese art, contemporary ceramics, African artefacts, studio glass & sculpture and the latest realist-styled paintings from China, and a changing roster of exhibitions by contemporary artists from the Philippines, Australia, France, Thailand and Holland.
